Subject: APPEAL – JOCKEY NATALIE BERGER vs. STEWARDS’ DECISION

On Thursday 19th May, 2022, the Jamaica Racing Commission heard an appeal submitted by Jockey Natalie Berger against the decision of the Stewards handed down on Tuesday, 26th October, 2021 to have her suspended for a period of three (3) race days and the imposition of a fine amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00). This was concerning the interference and intimidation caused to horses numbered 3 ROY ROGERS and 4 ANOTHER BULLET, during the running of the ninth race (9th ), whilst aboard her mount Horse No. 6 RAS EMANUEL leaving the 1000-meter point of the race.

After carefully reviewing the film of the race and submissions made by Mr. Edward Barnes, representative of Jockey Natalie Berger, and the Jamaica Racing Commission’s Operations Steward, the Commission saw it fit to maintain the suspension period of three (3) race days which was given by the Stewards however removed the fine amount imposed. Jockey Berger’s suspension will commence on May 28, 2022.
