Subject: APPEAL – OSHANE NUGENT (JOCKEY) vs. STEWARDS DECISION
June 24, 2021

On Thursday, 17th June, 2021 the Jamaica Racing Commission heard an appeal submitted by Jockey Oshane Nugent against the Stewards’ decision on Saturday 10th October, 2020 to suspend him for fourteen (14) race days. This is in relation to interference caused by horse #8 Colour Me Tan leaving 800-meter point that resulted in the fall of horses #4 Nomas, Smoke Haze, #5 Persistent One and #12 Gorgeous Gift, during the running of the fifth race on Friday 27th November 2020 while aboard Primal Fear.
After careful reviewing of the race film and submissions made by Mr. Lerone Robinson, representative to Jockey Oshane Nugent, and the Jamaica Racing Commission’s Operations Steward, The Commission saw no reason to overturn the decision of the Stewards. Jockey Oshane Nugent’s suspension will therefore commence on Saturday 26th June 2021.
