Description
Each year, as a part of the pre-race activities in the week prior to the running of the Jamaica Derby, the JRC organizes a charity event at Caymanas Park.
The event is a walk race for race personnel and others, that is held over 200m. Participants register and are bibbed and the race is
monitored by "stewards" to ensure that the proper gait of walking (at least one foot on the ground an any time) is adhered to.
Persons are disqualified is they do not adhere to the rule.
Proceeds from this event (wagering is offered) as well as contributions from JRC staff that is matched by the commisision, go toward assisting the Spanish Town based charity; Children First.
Children First Charity
Children First, a charity organization that has catered to street children since 1989,is the recipient of several outreach activities by JRC. These include treats,
visits and contributions.
